The conversations you have on a sales call, a candidate screen, or a client review are some of the most sensitive data your business produces — pricing you haven't published, deals you haven't closed, salary numbers, product roadmaps, things people said in confidence. If a tool is sitting on the line, the question of what it keeps is not a footnote. It's the whole thing.

The default in this category is "record everything"

Most AI meeting products are built on a recording model. The tool joins your call as a participant or captures your screen, records the audio, transcribes it, stores the transcript, and then runs AI over the stored copy. That architecture makes a lot of features easy — searchable archives, post-call summaries, coaching analytics.

It also means there is now a permanent copy of your conversation sitting on a server you don't control. Every one of those copies is a liability. It can be breached, subpoenaed, retained after you cancel, or used in ways the privacy policy quietly permits.

This isn't hypothetical. In 2025, Cluely — one of the better-known products in this category — exposed the data of more than 83,000 users after leaving admin credentials in a public GitHub repository. What leaked wasn't just email addresses. It was screen contents, audio transcripts, and screenshots from live interviews, sales pitches, and confidential business meetings. The tool's core feature was capturing sensitive moments, so the breach exposed exactly the material users would least want exposed.

The lesson isn't that one company was careless. It's structural: if a product stores your calls, then a breach of that product is a breach of your calls.

What Zaasmi does instead

Zaasmi is built the other way around. It's a desktop app that runs on your machine, listens to the live conversation, and shows suggestions on your screen while the call is happening. Then the audio is gone.

Specifically:

No recording. Zaasmi does not create an audio file of your call. There is nothing to play back, nothing to download, nothing to leak.

No stored transcripts. Audio is processed in real time to generate the suggestion you see, and then discarded. We don't keep a text copy on our servers.

The call summary isn't stored either. When a call ends, Zaasmi generates a summary and shows it to you. That summary exists for you to read and copy. It isn't saved on our side.

It doesn't join your meeting. Zaasmi is not a bot that appears in the participant list. It runs locally, alongside your meeting, which means the other side isn't being recorded by a third party they never consented to.

It's invisible on screen share. The Zaasmi window is excluded from screen capture at the OS level, so it doesn't show up when you share your screen or when someone records the meeting.

What we do store

Being honest about this matters more than a clean marketing line. Zaasmi does store some things — the ordinary account plumbing any subscription product needs:

  • Your name and email, so you have an account
  • Your subscription plan and remaining audio-hours, so we can enforce your plan limits and show you accurate usage
  • Support messages you send us, so we can reply

That's it. Payment details are handled by Lemon Squeezy and never touch our servers. Our database is self-hosted on our own infrastructure in Germany rather than sitting inside a third-party SaaS platform.

And custom skills — the documents you upload so the copilot knows your product, pricing, or playbook — are stored locally on your own machine, in your OS's application data folder. They don't get uploaded to us.

Why the architecture is the real answer

Any company can write "we take your privacy seriously" on a landing page. The useful question is what happens when that company gets something wrong — because eventually every company does.

If a product stores your call transcripts, the strength of your privacy depends entirely on that company's security practices being flawless forever. A single leaked credential, one misconfigured bucket, one contractor with too much access, and your conversations are out.

If a product never stores your call in the first place, there's nothing to lose in a breach. That's not a promise about our competence. It's a property of the design.

Credentials on your device follow the same principle: your login token lives in the macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager, encrypted by the operating system, rather than in a plain file we invented ourselves.

What this costs you

It's worth being straight about the tradeoff. Because Zaasmi doesn't keep your calls, it can't offer you a searchable archive of every conversation you've had, or six-month trend analytics on your talk-to-listen ratio, or the ability to pull up a transcript from March.
